Blackmail

As we passed by Milo, I needed an excuse to stop by the planet for my scheduled “acquisition” of the Star of Milo. I managed to get the ship to dock in Milo’s spaceport Menice, by creating some reports of “Caldurian poaching expeditions”.

It’s the oldest trick in the book but it works every time. The mission went off without a hitch, but on the way back Jens caught me sneaking back in to the ship. The little furball actually tried to blackmail me by threatening to “tell the captain” if I didn’t show him what I had hidden beneath my fur. I told him to mind his own business or I would pour moss juice into his sleeping pod and shave his paws. But then he said that he might accidentally let something slip about all the things he’d seen me “borrow” from the others. What nerve! But I had to hand it to the little explorer, he was much more clever than I had first thought. I admitted defeat for the time being and let him sneak a peek at the “Star of Milo”, before I hid it again for safe keeping. Then I told him that if he ever tried that to “tell on me” again he would wake up floating inside of Pekka’s stomach. That set his eyes to yellow and made the hair on the top of his head rise. He rolled off in flash. I have a feeling that any threat will only work in the short term though. I’ll have to be a bit more careful from now on.
