Negotiations

I almost didn’t come along on this mission, I already had a great offer to “acquire” the “the Star of Milo” on behalf of the Minestronians. High Command tried with the usual “this could be the end of our civilization if you don’t.”

Come on, civilizations come and go like the stars in the sky, in the scheme of things who cares? But then they let me view some of the intelligence reports on “little blue” (and upped their offer). I have to admit I got curious. Here was a species even more ruthless than the Caldurians, with a fraction of their technological capabilities and they had managed to wipe out all their major competitors on the planet. Finally, some worthy opponents! Seeing that Milo was on the way, there was also an opportunity for a little extra work on the side. I begrudgingly said yes, but only after adding a few more terms of my own of course. This can always be done by remaining silent until the other side starts feeling really desperate.
