As the distance between our ship and “little blue” diminishes, the amount of variables to consider rises like an avalanche ready to destroy everything in its path.
I know that we are as ready as we can be, but if the history of science teaches us anything, it is that today’s truth is tomorrow’s laughing stock. When you see it like this, you can’t help but wonder: are we as ready as we NEED to be? I posed this question today during dinner but I only got a counter question from Jens: Was I this boring before becoming a scientist or was it all part of the training? Everyone laughed very loudly (Ilkka even had to apply the Jengeim maneuver to Pekka at some point) and my fear, as usual, receded into the background.
